And that is why no new chapter of FAA.  Sorry.  I'll try to make the time; the chapter is all ready to go; not that I'm entirely happy with it, but I never really am.

So, the stuff.

I spent Saturday morning running errands, then around noon I went into the storage unit and got out my boxes of Spring and Summer clothes, so I could put the heaviest winter clothes away.  I took out 2 boxes, and put 3 boxes away so far - by the time the weather is consistantly warm and I can put more things in storage, it will be at least one more.  I'm not sure if this is because the move to a slightly colder climate has resulted in my buying more bulky clothes, so that there aren't necessarily so many more clothes, or if I just did hella lot of shopping this winter.  Somewhere in the middle I expect.  Then, it turned out that just about everything in storage needed to be ironed/dry cleaned/washed.

The 'rents came home Saturday evening.  When they called at 4:30 to say they were waiting for the parking attendant to get the car for them, and that they were picking up dinner on the way, I had the dining room table and the big couch both piled with ironing.  Anyone who has ever lived with me or seen my home space will tell you that I tend to spread out across any and all available surfaces, given the time and opportunity.  So, there was some last minute straightening involved, and some frantic ironing. I figure I ironed for about 4 hours all together, and there are still a few things on the table.

Sunday I took Mom into NYC to see Mama Mia for Mother's Day.  Yeah, I know Mother's Day is next Sunday, but my Dad wants to be there for actuall Mother's Day...Except, you know, not at a musical, or anywhere near New York.  So, we went yesterday; ate lunch, walked around Saks for a little while, and saw the show.  Then we headed straight home, because she'd been out of her kitchen all week and she really wanted to make dinner, rather than being treated to another NYC restaurant meal.  Yeah, I know she'd weird.

And, that's all the stuff.

It was a wild, wild weekend.  Okay, it was not so wild, but I haven't been doing any partying in a while, so it was a little much for me.  I'm only now really recovered.  And by that, I mean that my thought processes seem to finally be clearing up.  Woo!

Eventually I'll get my stuff together and maybe get a few pictures up (I think by this time few of you actually believe me.  I've cried posting-wolf a few too many times).  There are some good ones.

I finally calmed down a little after my Saturday rant and realized I was being a brat, and got over it.  Thanks to all for not calling me on it.

So, I actually wrote a little this weekend.  FAA 15 is under construction once again!  Was wondering if anyone has time to read it over for me.  If you have a few minutes, please let me know.  And specifically, if you have any input on how a teenager's speech pattern would shape up if she were raised partially in the UK and partially in the US, I would appreciate being allowed to pick your brain.

Also, I got an awesome toy this weekend; an electronic bubble wrap keychain!!  Yeah, you knew I was a dork, right?  It's not like I was fooling anyone around here...

Still wondering if I should risk the fickle muse by forcing myself to work on other documents, or if I should just stick with the one that I'm most desparate to finish and put what little time and energy I have into that.  We'll see.

Apologies to

[personal profile] kazzy_ceefor being a late-birthday-wisher; I hope you had a spectacular day.

[profile] mymagritte and [profile] flostonparadiseboth had birthday parties this weekend, and it was good to see people, but I was very, very tired on Sunday.  I have no idea how I survived those long, busy party weekends of yester-year.

I got a decent word count finished on the nanowrimo story, which is making me pretty damn happy at the moment.  Of course, I had to be the big dork who brings the laptop to a party in order to get stuff done, but it was really worth it, on the whole.

Also: [profile] nomdiplumeis in town for a short visit!  It was awesome to see him over the weekend, and we're gonna drag him all about this week and be complete tag-along pests.  Well, I guess I should speak for myself.  I'm gonna do that stuff.

That's all for now.  Back to noveling.

Saturday I had some of the girls over for dinner.  This involved, among other things, the making of a cheesecake from scratch. I even made chocolate ganache to put on top. Go me!  I did dessert and appetizers and a salad to go with dinner, Celeah made a lasagna as the main course. Then we all watched 'Arsenic and Old Lace', which is just one of the best comedies ever made.  A good time was had by all.

Sunday I caught up on the week's TV, and washed the kitchen floor.  I still can't figure out if the black spots on the floor were from the chocolate graham cracker crust, or from someone dragging mud in on their shoes.  Maybe a little of both?

And, as of  this weekend it's official: my sewing machine is busted; I have to order a new one, and rush to finish my costume at the last minute.  I thought about just buying a costume, but then I'd still have no sewing machine, so I'm going to continue the DIY Halloween Route.

That's about all that happened this weekend, other than the pre-dinner grocery shopping with roomie1, which was just grocery shopping - although it very awesomely included a ride to and from the store.

Blame [profile] pepperlandgirl4  for this.

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.).
2. Put it on shuffle and press play.
3. For every question, type the song that's playing. When you go to a new question, go to the next song.
4. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.

This weekend was busy.  Details, if you care.

willow_25: (Default)

LJ (or at least my flist) is super dead today.  Either everyone is busy at work, or it's just that kind of day where nothing interesting happens.  Maybe by BtVS peeps are all busy writing (I can hope).  Anyway, I'm posting to fill the soul-sucking void, not because there's really anything going on here.  The phones have been slow, there's not a lot of actual work to do, I need some computer help before I complete my ongoing project for work, and I still have writer's block.  Also, an upset tummy, for no reason I can think of.  Except, that perhaps the pizza I had for lunch the other day had meat sauce on it, or spoiled ingredients of some type.

Shopping with friends tomorrow, and the planning for the kick-ass Halloween costume begins!  Not like there's a lot to plan, but based on how long it took me to make the toga last fall, I'm gonna go out on a limb and start constructing the costume two months early this time.  Have to track down the pattern and measure myself tonight.

So, I have no song today, but I wish everyone well with their endeavors for the weekend.  Rock n Roll, kids!

Happy Friday, everybody.  On the schedule for this weekend:

-lawn mowing, if the ground dries out enough
-possible trip out tonight
-getting the pictures off my phone, and at very least onto a computer.  Some need to be posted on LJ.
-possibly stopping by the office to get some work done I haven't gotten to this week (see how responsible I can be when I'm not being harassed and hatin' my job).
-working on FAA 14, which has been sitting on my laptop with less than two pages completed, as RL stuff took up lots of time
-defragging the laptop
-getting some old poetry up here and at thisisby.us, for comments etc.

In other news, went to see Aubriot last night at 'The Red & The Black'.  Great show, they did a very cool mash-up type cover of The Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows.  Also, I'm thinking about adopting the bar cat, Knuckles.  I have to meet one of the barbacks next week and discuss.  I have a few pics from this show, and video from past appearances that I may post.

24-hours on, 24-hours off.  That seemed like the way to do things.

After blogathon, I slept a whopping 3 1/2 hours.  Yeah, I was not happy.  Then, a friend I rarely see stopped by and kept me awake, and I stopped minding so much, because it was good to see her.

After a couple of hours we hopped on the Bus (because Metro was all crazy) and went to

[profile] mymagritte's house briefly.  Then we wandered over to where another friend is house-sitting until she moves to Boston next week.  Then, we went to DC Tribal Cafe, to watch tribal belly dancing and eat vegetarian food.  At that point, I was running on caffeine and carbs. The show perked me up, though, and I managed to get home alone under my own steam.  Passed out around 10:30.  Woke up still tired.  But, I am awake enough to do my job, which is about the best I could hope for today.

No further excitement, except...FIVE DAYS UNTIL CAROL LEAVES!!!!!  I can hardly believe it.  It's just so wonderful.  Although, there was a brief low point this morning when we noticed she was wearing capris. She tried to explain how, because she's wearing wide-leg pants on her scrawny chicken legs they magically count as a skirt, where they wouldn't for people with fat legs; and so it's okay for her to wear capri pants, in violation of the dress code...Because, on her, they are a skirt.

There is no way I can adequately express to you how glad I am I will no longer be working with this woman.

It's Friday again!  Things are better.  I took a very-much needed mental health day yesterday, when I did important things like giving the cat a bath, and mowing the lawn, and changing the locks.  Then, I went out on the town, to see [profile] mymagritteIn a movie!  It's a short film, link here:

http://www.washingtonimprovtheater.com/media/video/holiday.htm

All around, a far better day than I'd been having.  Today has been filled with catch-up accounting, begging people to cover my desk, as we are short staffed and super busy, and generally running around like a crazy person.  Tonight, I meet the new roommate, and possibly meet Celeah and co. for dancing after.  Hoping for a quiet weekend, so I can get some writing and cleaning done.  I figure, if I keep hoping, it'll happen...Right?
willow_25: (Default)
Three days were not enough.  I know this because my fingers are stiff from writing, and the entire rest of my body is stiff from moving a friend on Sunday.  Need to work out more before I move myself.

Hope everyone takes the time to read & comment on my new story; it's something I toyed with the idea of for a few months, but I was going to wait to write it until other things were done.  Then, all of the sudden on Saturday, when I was trying to write on FAA, the bug bit, and that was the end off that.

I'm having icon-crediting issues again.  I found this, got distracted before I wrote down the creator's name, and now I can't find it again.  If anyone recognizes your work, please let me know and I'll give credit.  I love these little things, and I have the hardest time making them myself, so I like to make sure everyone knows who has the mad artwork talent!  It's sure not me.

Other than frantic writing, and a day spent moving from MoCo to Woodley Park (if you don't know DC geography, it's about a 30/45-minute drive) in the snow and ice, nothing noteworthy happened this weekend.  Hopefully the writing is noteworthy enough.

Boredom

It's a plague upon humankind, and must be eradicated.  Seriously.  My new mission in life; to fill every non-sleeping hour of the day with STUFF.  We'll see how long this lasts.

I'm very frustrated at not being able to get to my documents, as the first section FAA 11 is burning a hole in my brain (you know, like something burns a hole in your pocket...Wow, look, that was a reference to the prequel story!).  It's going to be the Gunn section, and it will be very short.  After that, I think either a Penny or Wesley 2 section, then Connor 2, then Angel 2, then probably either Willow 3 or Apple, Laurie, probably Spike, then either Ron or a Slayer.  It might end up being chapter 12 before I get to Apple, depends on how long it takes to get everyone where they're going.  I'm also thinking of throwing a Giles interlude in somewhere.  It will be a separate chapter, either between the battle ending and the recovery, or acting as the epilogue.  Buffy will also get another full chapter, after the fighting is over.

Most of you can just ignore that previous paragraph, you won't understand it anyway.  But, it makes me happy to write it all out like that.

Office: Boring.  Crafts projects for Football & Crafts party: prepared.  Writing: still on hold.

I would like to thank the two wonderful friends of mine who took the time to issue me challenges, related to my groveling yesterday afternoon.  You are both very swell, indeed.  If anyone else feels the need to throw things my way, I'll work on it, I promise.
