New Laptop!!!!

Also, replacement Kindle has finally been granted to me.  God bless the very slow, highly methodical people at Amazon, with all their 10 billion questions about what I was doing with it before it broke, for coming to the correct conclusion that it was totally not my fault as the little thing was overly-breakable.

Still working around iPod issues, but that will be settled with the purchase of a new one when I finally blow my stack and get sick of fighting with it.  I guess between now and year's end.

FAA 15 - Does anyone remember Fade Away Again??  I think the last time I posted was Jan or Feb; I can't believe that was nine months ago.  How the time has flown.  Anyway, it's just about ready to finally post, and I started the Giles interlude that comes after it.  If anyone has time to read, drop me a line.  The updates to this one have been so utterly sporadic, I have no true measure of ongoing interest in it, other than a review or two for each chapter.  My own fault for not being dedicated, I know, but then I enjoy my RL just as much as I enjoy fandom.

I bought witch shoes, so that in case I hated the viking costume when it came, I could just wear black and be all set.  I wore the witch shoes to work today.  I'm actually waiting for someone to comment on them, to see what kind of response I get.  PS on shoes - When I was the green and brown fairy last year, I was going to order these 'Roman Style' thigh high boots, but they were not in the budget, and I ended up wearing a pair of gold pumps I already owned.  I bought the same boots to go with the viking costume (sidenote: I need to stop wearing so much brown) and they are FABULOUS.  Seriously, even with my fear of the cold, I found myself regretting that I had bought a long skirt, because it will cover the boots.  I'm considering splitting the sides.

- Brought bag packed for the weekend to work today, as I may have to stay overnight.  Blegh.

- Moving craziness abounds.  Yes, I know we just moved people in April.  Yes, I know we're moving more people in January.

- Our head Receptionist is the world's most freakin' unhelpful, selfrighteous, argumentative brat ever.

- My poor wayward iPod decided it didn't want to hold music anymore this morning.  I'm waiting to see if a reboot/recharge helps, otherwise I'm heading up the block to the Apple Store this afternoon, because there is no earthly way I'm going away this weekend with no Kindle and no iPod.

- Yeah, the Kindle.  Still dead.

- Missed Bones, ANTM, and Palin speech for the mocking last night, because guess who was at work until 8:45!?

- Upon reflection, I'm dressed badly today.

The laptop has been on the way out forever, it seems like.   My poor little green iPod mini has certainly seen better days, and lately has not been working quite right at times.  And then last night, my Kindle died on me.  Completely, totally un-responsive dead.  Not responding to reboot protocol (which has been successfully performed before) dead.  USB cable port breaking off dead.  Flickering screen dead (this was before the complete lack of response).

So, I put an actual paperback in my bag this morning, along with the iPod that says I have no battery life left, then plays for three hours, and brought my Kindle to work stuck back inside its original packaging.  I was hoping that there would be handy 'If it breaks you do X' instructions on Amazon.  I found the return instructions, but had to e-mail Amazon for repair/exchange instructions.  I'll keep everyone posted on how it turns out.

Also, FYI, today is one of those days where I hate being female.

I finally calmed down a little after my Saturday rant and realized I was being a brat, and got over it.  Thanks to all for not calling me on it.

So, I actually wrote a little this weekend.  FAA 15 is under construction once again!  Was wondering if anyone has time to read it over for me.  If you have a few minutes, please let me know.  And specifically, if you have any input on how a teenager's speech pattern would shape up if she were raised partially in the UK and partially in the US, I would appreciate being allowed to pick your brain.

Also, I got an awesome toy this weekend; an electronic bubble wrap keychain!!  Yeah, you knew I was a dork, right?  It's not like I was fooling anyone around here...

Still wondering if I should risk the fickle muse by forcing myself to work on other documents, or if I should just stick with the one that I'm most desparate to finish and put what little time and energy I have into that.  We'll see.
