Evidently, we just hired a consultant named... Anya Harris.

Methinks, there may be fic in the future.

For those of you unaware, who don't understand why I find this hilarious rather than just a fun coincidence, I work for a financial firm.  Lots and lots of money for Anya to count, in other words.

Here's to finishing another chapter I never thought I'd see the end of! Kind of a long one, hope you enjoy.  Also, a reminder that this story is unbetaed after Chapter 2, so please let me know if you find any problems.

In this Chapter we take a detour back into canon (kind of), and Drusilla gets some more 'screen time'.  Previous Chapters here

A/N: This story is a bit weird, because it's Spuffy, but they're in different countries. I needed to get the Spuffy in somehow, since Spike and Buffy are currently in different countries, with Buffy’s job (and a prophecy!) keeping them apart. So, a brief interlude in the action, revealing the ‘pressing engagement’ Spike had to leave dinner for.

Chapter Summary: Spike finally speaks! Some familiar faces, and some new ones.

Author's Note: On the timeline - Imagine that there was an entire day between when the gang left Angel's office at the beginning of the ep, and that first meeting in Spike's apartment. Hey, if I can, you can.

And, on an un-related to fic note, there is still time to sponsor me for Blogathon 2007; get over to their website, click the 'sponsor' button, look up the name of my blog (not my username), and click the handy little 'sponsor this blogger' button.  I'm raising money for research and education on Neurofibromitosis, via a charity called NF, Inc..  If you don't know what NF is, you should.

 Fade Away Again

Rating:G/PG-13
Fandom: Buffy/Angel
Summary:  Sequel to “Hole in My Pocket” (posted here under FAA-Verse in Memories).  How 'Not Fade Away' would have gone, in my world. Buffy gets involved in the W&H apocalypse, and changes the course of everyone's lives. Missing scenes and alternate ending for the Angel Season Five finale, 'Not Fade Away'. Hope you like!

Author's Note: Character names at heading indicate Point of View. Story title comes from a line in “Shimmer” by Fuel.

Disclaimer: I don’t own the characters portrayed on Buffy or Angel. Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy Productions do. More power to 'em. I make no profit from my endeavors. All original characters are my property (so there!)

So, here's the prologue, hope you enjoy.  And remember, due to the time-setting, there are heavy FAA-verse spoilers here.

A/N: This is a new series I am working on, which is a spin-off from a series I've already started. Confused? Me, too. This story takes place in the FAA-verse, several years after that story, and it's sequel. You'll see when the timelines match up. The rest of the series will be made up of rather disconnected AU stories, most going back to BtVS Series cannon. I will also reference other fanfic, with the permission of the author. Hope you enjoy!

So, here's the new stuff, and only a day late.  That's gotta be a record for me; usually if I'm late, I'm LATE.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Also, I'm going to post the Prologue here, because it's 1) written, 2) funny, even if I do say so myself.  You don't need to read it to understand this one, so if you're reading this don't freak, you didn't miss anything.   But, for those of you reading FAA, there are some spoilers.  Not plot-crippling ones, but if you don't want to find out who Angel and Giles end up with, or how Willow's relationship with Merry develops, skip it.

So, my birthday is today.  Well, actually, I was born at 10:32 a.m., so I have a few hours.

Last night was the big celebration, as Sunday is a really bad day to party on if you wanna make it to work in the a.m..  They picked me up a little after 6, and then there was a scavenger hunt (!!!) all over Brookland, guiding me eventually to the Metro, and [profile] mymagritte's house for a party, and then to a club for dancing and drinking.  The clues came from books, Charmed, Buffy, and other assorted sources.  It was the awesomest surprise ever!  Thanks, ladies and gents, for a wonderful evening.

A/N: A much longer chapter this time, taking the story completely off-canon, and into an AU.  Several lines of dialogue from 'The Harvest', all credit to Joss and Co. for the words and the characters.

I completely forgot to post this.

I've been nominated for two awards at the Rogue Poet Awards: http://awards.rogue-poet.com/nominees.html

Go, vote for me.  Heck, vote for other people, too.  Yay!

It's only a short chapter, but I feel like I owe everyone a little something, for putting up with the previously-mentioned posting slackage.

What If, Book 1: What if Spike had regained his repressed memories before he did?

I really meant to buy the Buffy comics.  I got all excited about them existing.  And then, RL got in the way.

I saw a posting in one of the forums I visit that refered to it as 'canon-fanfic', which is exactly how I feel about it.  It's not true canon, because it's not on TV.  Period.  Although, I do confess to using the original movie as canon sometimes.  But, we were talking about the comics.  Joss is writing them, so they're canon.  Yet, they're not.  It's like Joss writing fanfic.  Which I'm okay with.  That's also exciting; now that he doesn't need to worry about production values, actors and their salaries, etc., he can do a lot of things with the characters that he might not have been able to do before.

All of that said...I missed the publication date of the first comic, by enough that the second is already out.  And I have to say, that as far as the spoilers go, I'm dissapointed.  We'll have to re-evaluate this next week, when I have a chance to read the first two comics.

When I write these entries, I like to have a point.  Or, at least a begining and end point.  I feel like this is just a little blurb floating in space, no relation to anything else, of no true value to the LJ community...

* Existential Crisis *

Okay, I think I'm better now.  What I've been thinking about, is cross-promotion; books that spawn movies, movies that spawn TV series, or vice versa.  I've never read any books based on movies or TV shows, I tend to see a lot of movies based on books I enjoyed, though.  And I'm not a huge comic person, although I've seen a good 2/3 of the comics-based movies that came out in the last 5 years.

Why did I get so excited over the Buffy Comics?  Because Joss is working on them.  And, even if I never fully consider them canon, and even if they suck and I stop buying them at some point, that makes them worth noticing.  That the creator of the Buffy-verse still has ideas and input for those characters after all this time, says a lot for the verse, the fandom, and its creators.  I think it's impressive, which is why I'm gonna actually go out and buy comic books.

My ten year old self is mocking me with much glee.

Okay; it's only been going around for a week or so, but nearly every other BTVS person in my LJ friends has done it, so I'm just gonna join in already.

Yeah, I'm a follower today.

The assignment: Pair up the major players in Sunnydale (Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles, Cordelia, Angel, and Spike) with the person you believe in your heart to be their soul mate. You can pair them with each other, other characters from BtVS or AtS or you can say 'unknown' if it's no one we've met in the Buffyverse. You can only have couples - no threesomes or second choices - however, if you think the best person for Giles is Cordelia, but you think the best person for Cordelia is Spike, that's okay.

Buffy/Spike: This is, of course, my ship, but that's not the only reason.  Who better to appreciate the Slayer whose life revolves around her relationships, than the vampire who loved and cared for his sire for 100 years, and then managed to fall for his mortal enemy?  Also, Buffy has a tendency to get preachy and self-righteous about her duty, or get morose and let it weigh her down.  Spike kicks her in the ass and gets her back on track, sometimes despite himself.

Willow/Tara:  Even though I think Tara deserved better.

Xander/Anya: I think Anya made Xander grow, and helped him gain confidence, and made him happy.  And then he was an idiot.

Giles/Anya:  Not that Jenny was bad, but Giles has a tendency to let himself ignore things, and avoid emotional upheaval, especially in later seasons.  Anya wouldn't let him get away with that.

Cordelia/unknown:  I never could get into pairing Cordy with anyone on the shows.  She needs someone who will love her, and indulge her need to feel protected and coddled, but won't take her shit.  The closest guy would be Giles, and I don't think Cordy would date him.

Angel/Darla: This is one of those pairings that makes so little sense, it's perfect.  The souled vampire with the martyr complex, and the opportunistic unsouled vamp.  If one or both of them would have flexed their black and white ideals a little bit, and let some gray in, I think they could have made it work.  Even when they hated one another, they loved one another, too.  And that's the test, isn't it?  When you love and understand someone so clearly, even when you don't want to.

Spike/unknown:  I wish I could say Buffy was as good for Spike as he was for her.  I wish I could believe Dru cared for him the way he cared for her.  Heck, I would be happy if I could imagine Tara or Cordy giving him a chance.  Alas, no one treated Spike the way he deserved.  Maybe Buffy will grow up, someday.

Added Bonus:
Now that I've started, this is fun!

Faith/Robin:  Let's get one thing straight; I don't like Robin Wood.  But he's good for Faith, in that he's teaching her to build a healthy relationship.

I promised myself I'd write a Valentine's Day fic this year.  It's the 13th, and I've got nothing.  I mean, I have some thoughts...A proposal, perhaps, or a worst-date-ever.  Just nothing that's made it's way into my computer coherently.  So, I'll ramble a bit about what's going on in my life, instead.  And, if anyone has suggestions, feel free to...Suggest them, I suppose.

A bunch of my friends are coming over for dinner tomorrow.  There will be board games and lasagna.  A good way to spend the day, for those with dates, and those without.  And, bonus, I don't have to cook.  Because, if I did, I'd be doing it now, so I didn't have to run around like a crazy person after work tomorrow.

See, here's the problem with my ideas for Valentine's fic.  I'm working in an alternate universe, right now.  Technically, four alternate universes, but that's another story (or, you know, four).  And, it's April in the story I'm working on.  So, writing a V'Day fic would put the characters almost a year in the future, and be really confusing for the readers.  Should I bother?  I've read some really good stories putting Valentine's Day into the various seasons, but I haven't gotten an especially good idea of my own along those lines.

I could go back to my X-Files stories, but I'd end up with the same continuity problems I'm having with the Buffy stories.  Plus, Moose and Squirrel; not so much with the hearts and flowers.  Well, there could be hearts and flowers, but it would be highly OOC.

It's not that I'm against characters acting differently than they did on TV; that's the joy of fanfic, after all.  There are just some things that are wrong...Period.  Scully being girly; Tara being mean; Spike being oblivious to what's going on with people he cares about; Mulder being emotional, serious, and chatty all at the same time...I'm sure those of you who write get my point, and those who don't are utterly uncaring by this point.

So, I'm gonna try to get into bed early tonight, and wake up fresh.  People coming over tomorrow, after all.  And, it's still on offer; if anyone has a suggestion for the holiday debacle, I'm willing to listen.  I'm rather annoyed with myself about this, so it would really be helping.

Go Here  Notable not only for the cool artwork on the page, but the story "How to Kill a Commando".

The story has no redeeming social value, and it's off canon, but I laughed for 10 minutes. If you liked/were amused by "Cornpone & the Bloodsuckers", you'll like this.
