Merae and her Mom are both wicked sick (my Mom spoke to them on the phone last night, she says my sister in law sounds like a bullfrog).  I'm not feeling too well, but it's pretty similar to how I felt during the hay fever incident so I'd had it all chalked up to that; and then I remembered the voter registering, nose piercing, Soy Crisp sharing, girl from PG County at the gas station meeting fun of last Saturday.  So, I may have a real cold this time.  Grr.  I've disinfected my bosslady's office twice this week, because she will fake-murder me if she gets sick; she already has to take time off next week for medical stuff.

Should I do NaNoWriMo?  I'd basically be working on the exact same novel I was working on last year; in a separate document to verify the word count.  This book, it's never gonna be done.  I think I was 19 when I started it...And to be fair, I lost a draft in the great computer crash of '05, but I remembered all of what was in that draft, and it was pretty easy to rewrite.  Everything after that point has been a smidge more difficult, because I realized that as I matured, the focus of the book and the purpose each character served had changed.  And I wasn't so much about the revision as I was thinking about the word count, so I had some serious work to do after November was over last year.  Most of which I never did, since in December I had a complete meltdown, and in January I moved.  The rest, you can probably intuit from the decreasing amount of LJ entries in 2008.

I seem to have developed the complete inability to process all the mail my bosses and I receive in one day.  I need to figure out how to fix that.  I'm almost wishing EVIL INTERN was back, so I could dump stuff on her.

I could be writing right now, but I need to take a break before I OD on my novel and can't get a damn thing done tomorrow.  Fortunately the universe is cooperating, in the sense that there is no more new fic out there to distract me.

My nanowrimo book is above 30,000 words now, which is most excellent.  Due to the interweb issues at my house and a highly active social life, including having nomdeplume in from Spokane last weekend, I didn't get to update my word count or write very much.  Then on Monday New Boy started, and I spent a lot of Monday training him and showing him around.  So I had to haul ass all week to get up to date, and I'm finally back where I expectted to be by this point in the month.  So that's good.

And now for the bad (only a little) news on nanowrimo.  I finally figured out, after this thing has been batting around my brain for the better part of seven years, where the book is going to end.  And I know that 50,000 words won't even take me up to halfway through.  So I will try to keep up something like this same pace on it through the first couple of weeks in December, but after that point it will go on hiatus, hopefully to be finished by some point early inn the new year.

My fic:  Obviously through the end of November, ther will be no new fic.  But, I did sign up for a posting day at one of the Christmas fic sites, and I know what that story is going to be.  I have two Christmas scenes in the FAA-verse, one funny, one sappy; both very Spuffy.  So, even if I continue to have the issues I've had with FAA-14, I'll have new fic up before the end of the year.  I was also thinking about dragging out the next chapter of my long abandoned X-Files epic to work on, but I may not get to it, or like it enough to post it if I do.  I an working without a beta right now, so in advance I'd like to encourage all of you to be incredibly critical of my writing - it's the only way I'll improve, or know if I did something wrong.  What If 1, when I get back to it, will have some fun Dru stuff, and will probably only go on for a few more chapters.  That will take the fic through the end of Season 1.  I may come back to this 'book' with a sequel at some point later, but the author of Book 2, who is not me, would probably like some acknowledgement for his lovely participation in this series at some point.  Also, then I can get to posting Book 3.

So, now back to other stuff, hope everyone is well, and let me know if I've missed anything you think I should see after being so out of the loop.

*hugs flist*  I miss you guys.  ttyl

Apologies to

[personal profile] kazzy_ceefor being a late-birthday-wisher; I hope you had a spectacular day.

[profile] mymagritte and [profile] flostonparadiseboth had birthday parties this weekend, and it was good to see people, but I was very, very tired on Sunday.  I have no idea how I survived those long, busy party weekends of yester-year.

I got a decent word count finished on the nanowrimo story, which is making me pretty damn happy at the moment.  Of course, I had to be the big dork who brings the laptop to a party in order to get stuff done, but it was really worth it, on the whole.

Also: [profile] nomdiplumeis in town for a short visit!  It was awesome to see him over the weekend, and we're gonna drag him all about this week and be complete tag-along pests.  Well, I guess I should speak for myself.  I'm gonna do that stuff.

That's all for now.  Back to noveling.
