Saturday I had some of the girls over for dinner.  This involved, among other things, the making of a cheesecake from scratch. I even made chocolate ganache to put on top. Go me!  I did dessert and appetizers and a salad to go with dinner, Celeah made a lasagna as the main course. Then we all watched 'Arsenic and Old Lace', which is just one of the best comedies ever made.  A good time was had by all.

Sunday I caught up on the week's TV, and washed the kitchen floor.  I still can't figure out if the black spots on the floor were from the chocolate graham cracker crust, or from someone dragging mud in on their shoes.  Maybe a little of both?

And, as of  this weekend it's official: my sewing machine is busted; I have to order a new one, and rush to finish my costume at the last minute.  I thought about just buying a costume, but then I'd still have no sewing machine, so I'm going to continue the DIY Halloween Route.

That's about all that happened this weekend, other than the pre-dinner grocery shopping with roomie1, which was just grocery shopping - although it very awesomely included a ride to and from the store.

This weekend was busy.  Details, if you care.

So far today: 2 pieces of cake, 2 pots of coffee, walk to store for emergency supplies, 2 chats, 5 comments on my posts here, more posts than I really needed (not to mention the spam factor for my flist), and 1 cigarette.  Not a bad Saturday.  Now, to move the computer downstairs, so the bed does not mock me...

Re: g-chat - not only can I mock people I'm currently chatting with (I mock with love), I can now review old conversations, and mock them.

This time, the mocking is reserved for myself. From a chat last December, regarding writer's block.  Lots of words for someone who's supposed to be blocked:
I'm so bored
So bored I can't write
That's just wrong
blocked
boredom blocked
The boredom block is the lowest form of writer's block, because there's basically no way out. I usually just switch stories when I have nothing to say in one of them, or do something else.
But it's not like I can go do something else right now, so here I am.

Is Friday

Other than writing, and on-again off-again hunt for white shoes, nothing much is going on.  Will be heading to Georgetown after work tonight; I forgot my Debit card at a bar last night, and I can look for shoes along the way.

I'm supposed to be going out with one of the roomies Saturday; we'll see how that goes.  It's always interesting to take people to new places.  I think I need to find a new place to dance on Saturdays, though.  The old favorite place is losing its glow.

Speaking of clubs: (You can skip this rant, if you like) We have Summer dress down Fridays.  Our dress code is very conservative, and there are specific jeans-day rules.  Several people are in violation of the dress code today, including the office manager.  I so want to take pictures and report their asses to the managing partner on his vacation.  Because, you know if I did it I'd be on the mat by now. I have no problems with girls dressing a little slutty to go out to clubs; that's perfectly normal and acceptable, if not always in the best taste.  But WHAT made you think it was a good idea to wear the jeans that show your ass crack and your tramp stamp to the office, especially with a sparkly top that's at least 1 size too small?  If you're trying to sleep with one of the lawyers, that's NOT the way to go about it.  Save the club clothes for the club. (/rant)

I'm so glad the week is over.  I thought about creating a new Friday song, but I just don't think i have it in me today.  I haven't been sleeping very well, so my brain is pretty much fried; I can write, and that's really about it.

Speaking of, I thought Chapter 13 of FAA was finished; come to find out it's not.  I went to work on it, and next thing I knew I was writing again.  Stupid characters.  Oh well, better a chapter that ends in the right place, I guess.

Friday's dinner party involved more wine than was entirely healthy, and conversations on such topics as Israeli military service, home schooling vs. non-schooling, fanfic, polyamory, and jewelry making.  So, a typically weird evening with my friends.  I left after midnight, and strange conversations continued on the ride home.  It was during a rant about the canon of Joss Whedon's vampires that I attempted to say that 'X' idea was more pop-psychology than anything scientific, and what came out of my mouth was 'pipe-psychology'.  Which derailed the conversation utterly, in our laughing attemps to define the new term.

Shopped until I dropped pretty darn literally on Saturday, then took a nap, then was out until almost 3 dancing.  I managed to pick up a 150' hose, a broom, and various and sundry small items we were in need of.  And, all without a car.  Yes, I carried the hose on the Metro.  Still, oddly, not the strangest thing I've ever transported via subway.  That would be a dolly full of wood, which was then used to construct a prairie-style dining table to seat 12.  Luckily for everyone involved, I wasn't the one making the table.

Today I did not mow the lawn.  I didn't do laundry, either.  Doing the dishes was about as productive as I was willing to be.

So now, to sleep.  Hope everyone else had a fabulous weekend, and more to share tomorrow, I'm sure.

Not that I've gotten a lot done today, but I've been plugging away at it.

I've been working on a challenge story, but forgot to bring it home to work on, so that's kind of a bust.  Chapter 12 of FAA is evolving.  I've also devoted a lot of time yesterday and today to copying files from my old computer to my new, which I have about halfway finished.  It's an ongoing process, to be sure.

Heading out tonight with a friend, to my favorite Saturday night club.  Always a good time; and I have the perfect outfit for the themed event going on.  Wooo.

Hopefully, more tomorrow.  See ya'!
