Hello all, I don't have a donation link yet, but I wanted to post some info on the Extra Life event now, since I got such a warm response last year.

I'm participating in a fundraiser called Extra Life for the Children's Miracle Network, and specifically my local CMN hospital, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.  The event includes 24 hours of gaming; any kind - board games, video games, RPG's, etc.  I participated last year, and it was super fun (I also had my first real conversation with my now-boyfriend there, so there is that.)  I am on a team called the Westchester Geeks, and we gather at Modern Myths in Mamaroneck, NY if anyone wants to stop by the day of.  The event will begin Nov 2 at 10:00 am, as I understand it (will confirm that when I post the donation link).

If you have any spare cash, and are willing to donate it towards providing medical care to extremely sick kids, please help.  NONE of the donation money goes to supporting the event, only the registration costs.  So feel free to give generously, all of what you give goes to the hospital, which will provide care regardless of the family's ability to pay.  Suggested sponsorship is $1 per hour for the 24 hour event.  If you can only sponsor 5 hours, that's great.  If you can sponsor the whole 24, even better.

I won't be able to attend the event this year, as it overlaps with a long-planned trip to Washington, DC.  But I encourage everyone who can to give generously, sick kids are no fun.  I'll post the donation link as soon as I get it.

Evidently, we just hired a consultant named... Anya Harris.

Methinks, there may be fic in the future.

For those of you unaware, who don't understand why I find this hilarious rather than just a fun coincidence, I work for a financial firm.  Lots and lots of money for Anya to count, in other words.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.

I walked to the Metro this morning, because I missed my bus.  While I was walking, I spotted two little sparrows; or wrens, or whatever.  One would fly up into the air, just past the other, then land.  Then the other would fly up and over the first, and land just past it.  They were playing leap frog!

It made me smile, which is no mean feat before I've had coffee.

Edit: I just re-read this (@ 1:50) and noticed that it's been sitting there all morning saying 'mean feet'.  *headdesk*

Even though a bunch of people le bailed, it was a great party.  Two water fights, lots of grilling, lots of eating, random chocolate cake showing up just in time for dessert, dancing, singing, assembly line kabob assembly, the late-stayers all working together to get the crap in from the yard, [profile] mymagritteshowing up early and rocking the decorations...Well, and lots of other stuff.

Sunday I lay on the couch, ate leftovers (there isn't a whole lot left), and watched Angel Season 1.  It rained, I stayed dry...nothing better.  Today, the decorations come down after work, and the leftovers will likely be history.

Many thanks again to A & C for decorations; K & MD & C for tables, extra chairs, and tiki torches; MC for sound equipment, and J for wearing a hawiian shirt (and I only had to threaten him for a month!).

I'll upload a couple of pics, when I get the chance.

But I'm gonna do it anyway.  Here is a chart/thing I found, with major network TV shows which are not being renewed for next season.  I'm gonna bold all of the ones I've watched, then check the ones I'll miss.  For no real reason, just because I hear so much about all the good stuff on TV, then half the time I'm not impressed.

My roommate celebrates, so I feel the need to wish all you guys and couples...Happy Steak & BJ Day!

Yes, it's a holiday, there are websites, people really get into it.  Sadly for Kate's boy, I think she may have forgotten, this year.

Also, happy birthday Albert Einstein (1897, I believe).

How many have your name?

Wanna know what's weird about this? The town where I lived in High School, housed 3 of us. Three women, in a town of under 100,000 people, all with the same first and last name. Two of us even had the same middle name.

I saw this on the livejournal of one of my favorite authors, and decided to join in.

This is the soundtrack of the year I turned 18, and here's the site where you can copy paste the top 50 songs from the year you were 18...

http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/Pop-Modern/2006.html

Here were the instructions:

Snip the top 50 songs from the year you turned 18 and paste it in your journal. Bold the ones you like, strike the ones you dislike, italicize the ones you know but don’t care one way or another, and leave the ones you don't know as plain text. I’m embarrassed about how old I’m getting, I have to admit.

You can blame [profile] happynonoplace  for this. It's all her fault. Trust me.

Anyway, here are the rules.  Let me know if you want a letter.
I give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post in your journal, and give out some letters of your own.

My Letter: M

1) Music.  Almost any kind, any tempo, any volume.  Even the crappy Pop kind.  Sometimes, very rarely, even Opera.  Madrigals!  Matchbox 20!  Midnight Train to Georgia!

2) Megan & Mikey.  She's my cousin, but like my sister in that she's-annoying-yet-cool way.  He's my actual brother, and the father of the most wonderful niece a girl ever had (as well as being spiffy in his own right), which brings me to...

3) Merae.  She's my niece.  She's sweet, she's cute, she's still small enough to be portable, and she's re-introduced me to the long-lost world of toy shopping.

4) Movies.  Yup, just about all of them.  I mean, I'm sure I could pick one or twelve in particular, maybe even movies that begin with 'M', but you don't want to be reading this for a week, do you?  (Midnight Margaritas!  Mame!)

5) Marsupials.  Not as much as the previous stuff, but still...They are not only adorable, they're genetically intriguing.

6) Mounds bars.  Mmmm, coconut & chocolate.  Hard to improve upon.

7) Magnolias. Smell mahvelous, and are decorative.  I didn't have them growing up, up north, so they always remind me of being mature and independant, which is also good.

8) Masturbation.  And there's nothing wrong with that...

9) Mental Health Days.  When you goof off and do nothing more taxing than make a sandwich; lounging on your couch, the beach, or some other incredibly chill place.  The best ones are when your boss thinks you sound sick, and tells you to take an extra day.  Squee!

10) My books.  I know, that's cheating.  But when I'm talking about things I love, it's hard not to talk about the books.  I have a problem, and the first step is admiting that I have a problem...
