This weekend was busy.  Details, if you care.

Friday I went to a favorite dive bar w/dancing with a bunch of people, and had a good time.  Went to bed at a reasonable hour for a party night (around 2:30) and woke up at a decent hour to go costume shopping with the muskateers Saturday morning.

This is where things start to get a little wonky.  Nothing too bad, just a tad off.  I woke up, dressed and showered, packed up my stuff, and went to watch TV until the appointed meeting time.  If I'd remembered to bring my phone with me to the TV, we might have been on a better time schedule, because everyone else was also ready early.  But, no big.  So we hit the fabric store first.  They had fabrics to match my wings, both on sale for Columbus Day/Pre-Halloween.  Less than $10 (althought I need to go back and get more trim later).  So that was good.

Then we went shopping for everyone else.  We hit a sex store with a good sized costume collection, then a party store with a huge costume section.  But, no one saw anything they desparately needed, so we moved on.  Next stop was a huge thrift store with a costume section, but the best things were in the rest of the store.  Spike-type duster, anyone?  White fun-fur coat?  1970's rainbow striped dress?  Race car driver-style jumpsuit?  It was all good, we had a big cart full of stuff...

And then we realized a purse was missing.  And it sucked, and we all freaked, and we spent an hour or more looking for it before we went outside and my friend started canceling credit cards and calling people for rides.  We waited another 20 minutes or so after that, before she went inside to give them her info...And there was the purse in the security office.  We called 24 times, and no one answered the phone; but at least it wasn't stolen, and we didn't have to wait any longer to get picked up.

So, since we were so late getting out of the thrift store, we didn't have time to go to the next costume shop on the list, and another muskateer cancelled her evening plans because she wasn't going to be able to get to them on time.  So we hung out at her house, and it was fun and chill.

I had a weird experience on the Metro home; I've had it once before, and I still think it's one of the creepiest things ever.  A guy came up to me on the Metro platform, and made me take off my headphones, and started asking me if I was all right, did I need help, etc.  I was not drunk.  I was not swaying, stumbling, nauseous, talking to myself, or even obviously tired and yawning.  So I said no, thanks.  He insisted.  I told him to go away and put my headphones back in.  He did.  When the train came, he ran back, got in the same car as me, and sat across the isle.  I took out my book and did some reading.  When we got to his stop, he came over and told me it was time to get off the train.  At which point I called him a sick freak and took out my cell and threatened to call the Metro police.  He actually looked confused by that.

Does this actually work?  What kind of mentality does it take to see someone and say, hey, I think I'll see if they're out of it enough to come home with me.  Also, if you happen to accidentally try it on a sober person, how do you not turn that around into legitimate hitting on, to cover your tracks?  Would anyone actually be stupid enough to go home with this guy?

So, back to other things. Sunday nothing happened.  And after Saturday I was okay with that.  I watched some TV, did some reading, dug out my cutting tools for the costume sewing, etc.  No writing got done at all; I wish I had better news.  Even the drabble call on Friday did not yield anything.  I'm very frustrated.

And today, back at work.  A co-worker's mom died overnight, so obviously she's out today and likely the rest of the week.  Poor woman; her mom's been sick for a year or so, and I really feel that 'she's in a better place' vibe, but rough to see someone who's usually so cheerful going through this.  She was a basket case on Friday when her mom was rushed to the hospital.

So, it's been an odd few days.  We'll see what the rest of the week looks like.  And, perhaps there will be sewing for now, to make up for the lack of writing.  When I finish, I'll get some pics up, so you can all see this costume I've been going nuts about.

So, that's all the news, sorry it's so long.  More later, probably.

Yeah, that counts as an interesting weekend, all right -- although not necessarily in a good way!
