In honor of absolutely nothing, it's a round of 'Guess the Obscure Musical Theatre Quote'.  Enjoy!

Also, I am having a very good day, because I am flush with success.  I got up from my desk today without prompting from anyone else and without having to talk myself into it, then I went to another floor and walked around passing out paystubs, and I spoke to a few people.  This is practically a coup, considering that last Wednesday it took me all day to make 1 phone call.

I don't know if you'd call that social anxiety or what, but some times even very minor social interaction, like dialing a phone with the expectation that someone will answer, or going to visit another part of my office where people I don't see everyday sit, is simply beyond me.  I thank the gods every day that my job usually requires only as much interaction as I am willing to expend.  I get through some days only answering the phone and talking to my bosses, without actually having to dial out or speak to anyone else.

But, today was a really good-feeling day for me, very low social anxiety, and I am proud of myself for that.  So, I thought I should share.

Saturday's quote of the evening (with apologies to anyone and everyone who is in no way interested):  "The last thing I want to see at one of these events is a mostly naked 200 lb woman.  Maybe that makes me shallow, but I deserve to get what I want, damnit!"

Sunday I woke up surprisingly early, considering I didn't go to bed until well after 3.  Made a huge plate of eggs, vegged in front of the TV.  Did a LOT of vegging in front of the TV.  I had said, repeatedly and loudly, that I was not doing anything even vaguely resembling house or yard work on my special day, but ended up weeding the patio for a while just for fun.  What do you mean, weeding isn't fun?  Silly person.

Was bitten by a plot bunny around 9 or 10 last night, and stayed up far too late writing the prologue to a story I have no clue when I will be posting.  Another 'What If' story, and I already have the first 3 or 4 plotted out, so it'll be a while.  After 5 pages, it's already a bit gorey and depressing, which is a departure for me.  I'll be interested to find out how people respond to it.

And, in FAA news, chapter 13 is begun.  I'm not saying character death yet, as I can use all of the new characters into perpetuity, and I had kinda decided not to kill off any of the fang gang, but the possibility is there.  Because it's a battle, people will get injured.  It happened a couple of times in CH12, it'll happen again.  Buffy had the advantage of fighting very brief battles, for the most part.  Season 7, where most of the season was in a way part of the battle, there was more death and injury than in any other season.  That's the kind of battle this is; it's ongoing, and when you do anything dangerous for a long span of time, it increases the likelyhood of being injured.  So yeah, people get hurt, and might die.  Sorry.

Hoping I can get some stuff done at the office...

Well, really just the one.  From 'To Grandmother's House' by BarbC:

Buffy's hand caught his and squeezed, small and warm and mitten-fuzzy. "There's a light."
An irreverent Over at the Frankenstein place popped into his head, but Giles said only, "I think you're right."

[Post-Weekend Edit]

Sunday evening I poked through some fic I have printed up and sorted in three-ring binders.  I found a great quote, and I meant to bring the story to work on Monday, so I could enter it here.  No such luck.  Not that I actually believe there'll be an outpouring of angst on the part of my unsatisfied readers due to the fact that I have not informed them of other noteworthy lines from Buffy fanfic...

I'll be updating this throughout the day, as I find more.  Just wanted to get the ball rolling early. If you have a favorite, feel free to add it via comment.

BtVS/AtS:
From the Summary of 'Working My Way Back to You' by Bogwitch: "What did you think the First Evil was doing after the closure of the Hellmouth? Knitting evil jumpers?"

From 'Death Becomes Her' by Selena: "She sighs. Men. They all expected to be remembered. She should have known Death would be a man, too."

From 'Robin Lays An Egg' by Ozma914: "I haven’t taken philosophy. I dropped out of the world to save college."

From 'Disneyland' by Christina K:
Faith grinned and leaned forward, looking far too pleased to be asked. "It's a long story." (cut) "It takes about... oh... a hundred-plus hours to tell. It includes destiny, cheerleading, saving the world, and giant demonic snakes. Plus, leather coats and gymnastics. You sure you're up for hearing it?"

"Uhh...." The young man's eyes were glazed, a common reaction to Faith in flirtatious mode. Perhaps he'd give them a discount for large groups and sexual innuendo.

From 'A Symphony of Echoes' by Eurydice11: “I believe the words, ‘confronting the demons of our past’ came out of your mouth,” Xander replied. “How many days have you been in that psych class now?”

From 'The Life of a Sunnydale Resident' by Dru: "If it's at night and they don't just walk in, close the door, grab a cross and pray they don't just set the house on fire."

BEST ENDING EVER
From 'Home Improvement' by Helga Von Nutwimple: (Spike) "Tara, we're... goin' into a hell of a fight, here... if you're stuffin' a soul in me, I could go bugshaggin' crazy, eatin' rats n' whatnot. Got existential uberdarkness to fight, those eyeless nasties..."

"Yeah." Tara moved closer to him, snuggling her forehead into the crook of his neck. "And we also have to lay that tile."

X-Files:
From '11pm' by Sist3r Spo0ky: (Scully) “I’m here because I can’t sleep and I’m bored right out of my brains.”
(Mulder) “You have more than one brain?”

From 'Close Enough' by kellyyouse:  "He could have come up with several analogies to describe their proximity--packed like sardines, for example. But she didn't remind him of a sardine enough to make use of that particular gem of a phrase."

If you get the reference, you SO get a prize!

I am reminded of this particular reference, because it is after lunch on Friday, which is a time of great joy and celebration.  And you know that even if I am a sicky right now and I have to tone down the ritual ablutions, it's still pretty damn exciting.

So, what's going on this weekend?  So far, plans are a total bust.  Which is kind of okay, since next weekend will find me moving a close friend into her new place.  If I can actually feel better and get off my ass to do stuff around the house, I'm sure it would be best to do so ASAP.  The dust and pet hair cannot be helping with the cold and flu issue.  Plus, I'm out of of body wash, so I've gotta go out and get more.  And there's a grocery list.  Etc., etc..

Nothing terribly exciting on any of the usual fronts, but I did get the poor limping home PC into some type of order last night, so that I will be able to update this over the weekend.  Still evaluating my ability to buy the new computer I want.  New job responsibilities are coming along, and we'll see how those affect my life and ability to get stuff done.
