Chapter Summary: Spike finally speaks! Some familiar faces, and some new ones.

Author's Note: On the timeline - Imagine that there was an entire day between when the gang left Angel's office at the beginning of the ep, and that first meeting in Spike's apartment. Hey, if I can, you can.

And, on an un-related to fic note, there is still time to sponsor me for Blogathon 2007; get over to their website, click the 'sponsor' button, look up the name of my blog (not my username), and click the handy little 'sponsor this blogger' button.  I'm raising money for research and education on Neurofibromitosis, via a charity called NF, Inc..  If you don't know what NF is, you should.

My alarm was all set for 8 this morning, so I could jump in the shower and dress before 9.  I was up at 7:15.  Which, it turns out, was not all bad, because I remembered that I forgot to pick up a few things for today when I was stumbling home intoxicated last night (not drunk, just happy).  So, between posts I will be running my happy butt over to CVS. Don't worry, I'll bring my phone in case the line is incredibly long, as it sometimes is.

Last night I was out in Adam's Morgan with [profile] happynonoplace  and her boy for a quick tour of the crowded street and some drinkin' fun.  We meant to do karaoke...Really, we were gonna sing...But I had to leave before 1 so I could come home and sleep.  Drat!  Funniest thing was the fact that while I was getting there, I spent a good long while on the phone with my family.  While standing outside a bar.

So, my brother and his wife, her mother and mother's boyfriend, my parents, my sister-in-law's sister and her boyfriend, and a couple of other odd family friends are going on a cruise the first week in September.  This is what my brother decided he wants to do with the 9 days of leave he gets before he is deployed to the green zone in Iraq for 15 months; so of course everyone who could get the time off is going.  My sister-in-law squealed 'we're going to Mexico!' in my ear twice last night; she's very cute when she's excited.  My brother is planning to spend the entire time drunk, I'm planning to sit by the pool.  Who wants to bet we both spend more time in the gym than either of us expects at the moment?  We both have a tendency to get self-righteous around one another, so I just know something like that will end up happening.

Both of my roomies will be gone for large portions of the weekend, so for the most part it'll be just me and my computer...And you.  Enjoy!

If you are not into fandom, Buffy, or fanfic; I apologize in advance for the large number of fic-related posts there will be today.  If you LOVE Buffy, think Joss is a flawed God, or have been anticipating me posting this stuff for a while now, enjoy!

Chapter Summary: The gang goes to dinner, and a plan takes shape...

Chapter Summary: Willow learns about William Spenser, and re-evaluates her position on Spike.  And, a little history of the Watcher's Council thrown in for good measure.

A/N: This story is a bit weird, because it's Spuffy, but they're in different countries. I needed to get the Spuffy in somehow, since Spike and Buffy are currently in different countries, with Buffy’s job (and a prophecy!) keeping them apart. So, a brief interlude in the action, revealing the ‘pressing engagement’ Spike had to leave dinner for.

That's right; its own iTunes playlist.

I'll get right on that.

Cake!

First roommate (I'm second roommate, we also have a third roommate) is a pastry chef.  She baked two cakes for a going away party yesterday, to layer them, then changed her mind and only used one.  So, we have cake!  And, in the grand Gentile family tradition, I'm eating it for Breakfast.  Sure, dessert for breakfast is supposed to be a special occasion thing; but Blogathon is a special occasion, right?  RIGHT?

It's very good cake.  I think it's out of a box, but somehow mine never taste like that.  Perhaps even boxed cake needs the touch of a skilled desert maker to be at its best.

I'm more the dinner person; as I discovered last weekend, even though I've been a vegitarian for 9 years, I can even cook meat well.  Needless to say, I played Lady Macbeth for most of that evening, but it made my parents happy that I didn't  force-feed them tofu.

I have a new sponsor, which is pretty awesome, so thanks to that person on behalf of NF, Inc..  Also...damn, no clue what I was about to say.  Don't you hate when that happens?

Umm...* crickets chirping *

Rocco DeLuca & The Burden are awesome, but you probably already knew that.
willow_25: (Default)
Just remembered what I wanted to say in my previous post.  If you IM me during Blogathon, you are opening yourself up to having your words/links/silly mistakes posted here.  Fair warning to my chat friends.

Disclaimer: The narrator is mine, most of the characters aren't. I am making no profits from this work, and intend no infringement to Joss, Mutant Enemy, Fox, WB, UPN, or any others. Please don't sue, or I'll sick my cat on you.

A/N: A note about the timeline: If you watch the last two episodes of Angel (especially if you watch them multiple times, the way I have been while writing this story) you can take the timeline in two ways; as one very long day, or as two or three days, where you only see the important parts. No one ever really mentions time. In order to do what I wanted to do, and stick to cannon, I'm stretching the timeline to three days. One, almost two, are already over…

Anyone into BtVS, especially the Faith fans out there, should pop over to [personal profile] beer_good_foamy's LJ and check out his drabbles.  He's got a serious gift for capturing character and space in very few words.  The two that posted this morning are excellent examples.

Just a little pimpin'.  Carry on.

Grrr

I posted via text message from my walk to the store, and the post is not registering here.  This makes me fear for concert attendance tonight.

Regarding the trip to the store: So, I forgot my sunglasses, and my backpack.  Then there was a huge line.  It was everything I thought it would be, and more.  And now I'm all sweaty.
willow_25: (Default)
Went to store, forgot sunglasses, am blinded.

Edit: I had to re-send this to get it to post.  Not sure what's up with that.  But, if you see multiple posts while I'm out tonight, that's why.  I will now be sending things twice to be sure they go through.

When someone is forced into service, is the word 'impressed' or 'inpressed'?

EDIT: Evidently, 'pressed' is the correct term, with 'impressed' also used, according to my flist.  Thanks, all.

Huh?

Grrrr is fun to type.
I think that's why I like Riot Grrrls.
Though they'll never be as cool as Right Grrrrbils.

I would just like to point out, I did warn people about saying silly things via chat.  So, you totally deserve this.

So far today: 2 pieces of cake, 2 pots of coffee, walk to store for emergency supplies, 2 chats, 5 comments on my posts here, more posts than I really needed (not to mention the spam factor for my flist), and 1 cigarette.  Not a bad Saturday.  Now, to move the computer downstairs, so the bed does not mock me...

Re: g-chat - not only can I mock people I'm currently chatting with (I mock with love), I can now review old conversations, and mock them.

This time, the mocking is reserved for myself. From a chat last December, regarding writer's block.  Lots of words for someone who's supposed to be blocked:
I'm so bored
So bored I can't write
That's just wrong
blocked
boredom blocked
The boredom block is the lowest form of writer's block, because there's basically no way out. I usually just switch stories when I have nothing to say in one of them, or do something else.
But it's not like I can go do something else right now, so here I am.

That seems like something I should be very excited about.  Like, when a friend or a company you've done business with moves, and you get one of those perky 'We've Moved!' postcards.  The living room is a nice place to post from; the seating is more comfy, for sure.

Pics of my living room (because, why not):

And the Long View; from the kitchen, through the living room, and into the dining room.

The first romance novelist I ever read, I have followed her books since middle school.  Her amazing attention to detail, and original plots in a genre where originality is so often lacking, will be missed.  Ms. Woodiwiss passed away this past Thursday.

If you've never read her work, I recommend picking up 'A Rose in Winter' and/or 'Shanna'.
willow_25: (Default)

Disclaimer: The characters aren’t mine. I suspect you knew that. Also, some dialogue is bastardized from the episode ‘Not Fade Away’. I am making no profits from this venture, so please don’t sue. I see enough lawyers at work.

Been catching up on reading other people's fic, since I've been posting so much of my own today.  One good turn, and all that.

In concert-going news, I will be posting via cell/text msg for about 6 hours, give or take.  If I miss a post due to malfunction, I will try again ASAP.  Wish me luck with that.

A/N: Up until now, each chapter has had one narrator, and most have been divided into three sections. This and future chapters will be divided into shorter sections, and each section will have a different narrator. Hopefully it’s not too confusing for anyone. The narrator will be named at the head of each section, as per usual.

And an additional disclaimer: I actually picked a name off the hospital website for a doctor in this chapter, as I seem to be running out of creativity when it comes to naming my ever-expanding cast of characters. I mean no infringement on his life; and as I have never met him, the character likely bears no resemblance to the real person, and it is not intended to. If you are him, or have met him, and feel that he is being represented unfavorably, I apologize.

For your own personal edification, a random sampling:

The Blue Lagoon in Spanish (telemundo)
Jacques Pepin cooks fast food
War Stories with Oliver North
The top 10 Southern California Beaches
Ace of Cakes
Larva (movie on Sci-Fi)
Continuing Coverage of Comic-Con
The Fabulous Life of The Hamptons (who knew, towns have lives?)
Hex (Noir)
Columbo on the biography channel (huh?)
Hot Housewives' Fantasies

And that's all the interesting/odd stuff.  Needless to say, I'm watching Comic-Con.

David Boreanez will be voicing the Green Lantern in a new Justice League movie.  Will I go see this?  Probably not.  But, aren't all of you glad I was watching TV and saw that, to let you know?
willow_25: (Default)
Seriously; nothing.  I had half a sandwich, two more cigarettes, and a diet coke.  I've watched some TV.  I wrote a couple of sentences on FAA Ch 14.

That's pretty much it.  Having a boring moment.  Talk to me in half an hour.
willow_25: (Default)
There's a show on the Biography Channel, where people try to call dead celebrities via seance.  Seriously.  How did they seell that one to the network?  We're going to shoot using that night-vision film, and have a bunch of actors run around, pretending to try to contact the spirits of dead celebrities.

It's a BIOGRAPHY channel.  What, exactly, does this have to do with their lives while they were alive?  How can it be biographical if the people are dead??
willow_25: (Default)

A/N: As in the previous chapter, there will be multiple narrators. Also, some borrowed dialogue from "Not Fade Away". Please enjoy, and if you do, or even if you don't, review me!!!! It helps me to build the story, to overcome writer's block, and to know I am appreciated.

Walking

I love my neighborhood. Mostly made up of working-class families and small businesses, it has the best energy. When I first moved to DC for college, my parents freaked out about it, but when they were here they didn't say a word. Not sure if they saw improvement in northeast since then, or if they've just gotten more numb to my strange life. Either way, I feel much love for them, and for Brookland!
willow_25: (Default)
Why did Metrorail, in their infinite wisdom, buy traincars with seats in colors that make you hungry? You can't eat on Metro!

Edit: Orange makes you hungry, so does yellow. That's why you see a lot of those warm, sharp colors at McDonalds. Seriously, there are studies to prove this. Damn silly to use thosee colors in any area where you can't eat.

Riding

This was an incredibly long metro ride. No wonder I never come out here. But, white stripes! Worth it!
willow_25: (Default)
After the bus ride. We have some time to kill before the show.

Nachos!

We ate the nachos in under five minutes.
willow_25: (Default)
Taking pics and video 2 post later.
willow_25: (Default)
Cell reception is very bad here. I worry.

Edit: Yeah, so once we were in our seats, and I tried to post and realized I had no reception, I panicked a little. Meaning, we walked a quarter of the way around the outside of the building, looking for better reception, so I could post, and then I was a bit late posting because of that.

So, then I sent this, just in case.
willow_25: (Default)
We have really awesome seats, I'll send pics later.

Lighting

Jul. 28th, 2007 09:44 pm
willow_25: (Default)
Pretty cool light effects. There was a disco ball on the stage, and they used it to fill the audience with those sparkly reflections a couple of times. In different colors. It was pretty cool. Also, some of the spotlights and lights fixed around the stage were timed to the drum beat.

The lighting made it hard to take pics, but it was fun to watch.

Drummers

Jul. 28th, 2007 10:10 pm
willow_25: (Default)
You don't usually get a chance to really see how the drummer plays, because they're stuffed all the way in the back of the stage, most commonly behind someone more attractive than them who can sing. Since the White Stripes are just the two of them, Meg was very clearly visible on the stage.

I don't know anything about playing the drums, let me say that first. But, I did notice that Meg seemed to be holding her arms and torso in such a way as to push her chest out and her arms back as much as possible. Is this a common drumming technique, something female drummers are forced to do so they can play around their breasts, or simply an affectation of hers...I don't know. But I did find myself watching her quite a lot, trying to figure it out. It looked very stylized and affected, more so the more I looked at it.

Another little Meg White note: her voice sounded better in person than I've heard it on CD. Or, maybe that's just me.
willow_25: (Default)
I've posted 12 times, how many of them have come through?
willow_25: (Default)
We walked out into a frenzied swarm of humanity, many of whom were driving drunk.  There are no cabs waiting there after shows (I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed to) and the busses don't run out there after 10pm.  It was an exercise in frustration.
willow_25: (Default)
Our cab driver just felt the need to drive all the way around the station before dropping us off.
