Anyone been to Madrid, or know anything about the city, and if so, are you willing to let me pick your brain.  I've just realized that I know next to nothing about the city, and it's a huge setting/plot point in the FAA sequel (still unknamed).

Stupid Hank Summers, just had to move to Spain, didn't he?  Why not France; I know stuff about France.

Um ... they speak Spanish, don't they? That's about it for me. :-(

Awesome! Not sure you'll know this stuff, but for now, here are my questions (I'm doing research as well). What would be a famous/popular landmark in Madrid to get your picture taken at? Is there a section of the city that tourists, or english speaking people in general would be more likely to stay in? What are the popular dance clubs, or what were they in 2004?

If you can help me with any of these, or know someone who could, I'd be most grateful.

Well, the king lives in Madrid (officially at least), so hitting up the Palacio Real might be a good stop.

The Teatro Real is also there, which was initially a big opera house.

You'll probably want to go to the Plaza Mayor. Lots of architecture and history there.

I don't know if you can take pictures inside, but the Museo del Prado has lots of famous works from Spanish artists, like Velasquez and Goya. Also the Reina Sofia is another big one; Picasso's Guernica lives there. I think the Sofia has some Dali, too. There's one other big art museum there, I can't remember what it's called right now though.

Las Ventas is the big bullfighting arena in Spain. It's the biggest one in the country.

For nightlife... well, I've never been to Spain so I can't really tell you. :p But, I do know the gay district is called Chueca. There's bound to be some clubs in the gay district. lol

Many thanks. Now, I at least have some places and names to research.

No problem, glad I could help. I just realized you wanted in the information for a story, not to travel yourself. Haha. So ignore all that "you" business. :p
