The loss of my thumbtacks (I could have sworn I saw them last week...) has inhibited the further hanging of stuff in my room.  Which means there's a lot of extra stuff on the floor.  Also, my desk has become the de-facto storage space for things I'm not ready to sort out and put away correctly.  The downstairs has no curtains yet, mainly due to a lack of curtain rods (and curtains to go on them), which makes it a little spooky at night.

As if that wasn't frustration enough, my muse is still on vacation.  I've even tried editing a few things, hoping my brain will buckle down and get back into writing mode, but I can't seem to sit still long enough.  I have what feels like a massive amount of WIP's (although thankfully only two are currently unfinished online), and absolutely no functional ability to work on them.

If anyone has suggestions for shocking the muse back into working, or improving concentration for periods when you lack inspiration, I'd love to hear them.

Sometimes, looking at old photos inspire me to write, draw, etc.

So, your desk looks a lot like mine, huh?

I've found that when I give my muse the choice of writing or doing housework, she usually chooses writing. But I look really ridiculous arguing with her. :-)

Wait...Your muse is female? Wouldn't it be better for you to have a less traditional male muse? At least then, if you were having trouble writing, you could be couch buddies.

Um ... *ahem* ... I'd rather be couch buddies with a female than with a male.

Although now that you mention it, that could explain why my muse can be so damned distracting.

By couch buddies, I meant the drinking beer, watching the football type; but thank you for going to the dirty place. Nice to know I'm not the only one with a gutter mind.

I don't drink, and rarely watch sports -- that leaves only one really bad habit, and you went right to it. :->

Personally my muse is rather catlike. She'll show up when she feels like it, but there's no real point in pursuing her. My sympathies with the writer's block. On the other hand, reading good webcomics usually fills me with enough writer's envy to make me take another stab at it. ( c;
