Just a quick note
Jun. 26th, 2010 07:33 pmI left my cell at the office when I left yesterday, so I turned the trip into the city to retrieve it into a day of exploring and running errands.
I was down at the Chelsea Market, my intended last stop, when I spotted the ESPN truck on the triangle outside, with a TV perched on top showing the US v Ghana world cup match. So, I stopped and stood out in the baking heat for the majority of it. It was a crushing defeat, and felt like the US was fighting down to the wire even though the tie-breaking point was scored early in extra time. It was really nice to watch the game with other people, even if they were strangers; my local peeps have no interest in soccer, so I've been watching alone, which is less fun. I have to say that as much as I wanted them to bumble badly and go down in flames and possibly drop dead en-mass, I was impressed with the footwork and the level of skill of the Ghana team. The US had a hard time keeping up, though they were also good.
Now I'm off to ponder whether I have enough energy left to make that grocery store run I'd been planning for this afternoon.
