It really peeves me when meme's/messages/whatever say "If you don't do this, you'll have X years bad luck."

It's emotional/spiritual black mail and an electronic form of ill-wishing.

Using the power of words to arbitrarily cause distress or emotional duress for no reason other than to self propogate a creation. Whenever I'm given such an item, if I do repost it, I strip out the "if you don't do this" portion.

Could you imagine how our prices would skyrocket, if we had to add up ever time we've done these things. On the 'smoked cigarettes' front alone, my value would increase exponentially.

No kidding. It would be pretty funny to see the stats on that, actually. Despite all the "players" out there, I'm willing to bet that women would clean up on the sex stuff. Of course, we'd never get honest answers on how many times people peed in the pool. And as for me, the drug question alone would make me a luxury item.
