Yay, Art!

So, I was outside my office building today, indulging my favorite baad habit, when a little old man in a white linen summer suit walked by, carrying a bag from the art supply store around the corner.  In the bag was a pre-stretched canvas.

Now, I don't in any way mean to detract from the accomplishments of young people who are working artists, or those of us who hold down an 'it pays the bills' job while honing our crafts, but I have a special place in my heart for older people who begin creative hobbies/careers late in life.  Possibly, this comes from two of my paternal grandmother's siblings, one of whom became a painter, the other a poet, very late in their lives.

Either way, big yay for the elderly painter.

Cool entry. I can totally empathize with sometimes just being struck by a strangers' looks in this fashion. Yay for older artists! Question - is it patronizing to think that old folks are cute?

That gives me hope. Maybe when I'm old, I'll finally learn how to paint properly.

I think you're doing fairly well now. At least you're going for it. That's more than I'm currently doing, stuck in my fanfic as I am. And hey, perhaps painting can be your second career, later in life.
