Just when you thought I'd done it all...
Jan. 23rd, 2007 01:37 pmA three part event tonight, for the State of the Union address.
Reader's Circle, Coin toss (we raise money for charity by throwing it at the TV), and Drinking Game (www.drinkinggame.us/).
The Reader's Circle I have every other week, so not a huge deal. We sit around, drink, eat, and talk books. Sometimes we swap books, but we never all read the same book at once, although some of them do make the rounds. Like the one I've just started, which has been read by two of my group-mates already.
The Coin Toss is, like the Drinking Game, a carry-over from the heights of my X-Files Mania. When Gillian Anderson was the National spokesperson for NF, Inc., the US non-profit which raises money for neuro-fibromitosis research and awareness, they held fundraisers where you watched the X-Files, and threw coins at the TV when you really liked/hated something. The coins went to NF, Inc. When we throw coins at the State of the Union, they go to the DNC.
The Drinking Game; well, it's a game where you drink, but with less participation than beer pong or 'I Never'. Much like those for other TV shows and movies, you take a certain number of sips of your drink when something on the list is said/done on screen. The first one I ever played was the X-Files.
So, that's the plan for tonight. Although, the drinking game will involve Diet Coke rather than vodka. And more's the pity.
