Stupid Might be Catching
Apr. 3rd, 2007 01:24 pmSomeone in my office ordered a rather large package from Frederick's of Hollywood, and didn't put their name on it. I'm not sure what was the worst part of this; someone ordering a large quantity of underwear, and having it delivered to their job; forgetting to put their name on a package, that will now have to be opened by the horndogs in Office Services to see if there's a name inside; or that the nameless underwear somehow made it onto my desk.
In related news, I got an attorney from another firm, who stopped by the desk and asked if I could call the Office Services guys to have them bring down the toner that was accidentally sent to our office. He had a brief to print. So, I called the guys, and asked that they take the boxes downstairs. Rather than finding the suite number themselves, or asking me while I had the guy who worked there in front of me, one of the guys brought the boxes to the Front Desk, and stood there while I called security and got the suite number. It should have been on the boxes. Since it took the guy standing by my desk 3 times reading off the label to get the name of the firm right, I don't trust him when he said there was no suite number on the label. Why couldn't I just read the label myself? Because, even though he stood 2 feet from me the whole time I was finding out where the boxes went, he wouldn't bring them close enough for me to read. And I asked. Twice.
So, if I begin to act impossibly stupid, you'll know why. I caught it from my co-workers. Except, of course, for happynonoplace, who is very swell indeed, and helps me spell things, making her smarter than me.
