The Apocalypse
Mar. 3rd, 2014 08:25 pmSo, I finally read The Postman. As a matter of fact, I just put it down. This is interesting for a few reasons: 1) A good friend gave me David Brin's book "Earth" more than 10 years ago, and I've read it probably 3 times since then. This is the only other title by him that I've ever bothered to read. 2) I used to be really, REALLY obsessed with Kevin Costner. I knew when he was in the movie version of this several years ago, but due to the waning of my obsession I never saw the movie or read the book.
I have to say that "The Postman" was probably a better book than "Earth", and I enjoyed it, but it'll take some time to see if it becomes a sentimental favorite. I did find it really interesting, how the themes of personal responsibility and responsibility for others came up again. Also, Earth dealt with the possible/pending end of the world, while this one was post-apocalypse. I'll have to track down some of his other books and see if these are over-arching themes. On the whole very enjoyable and thought provoking.
Started a new urban fantasy that I started reading a while back and never finished. We'll see how it goes this time.
March 2014 Books:
The Postman - David Brin
Total for January 2014 - 6
Total for February 2014 - 5
Total for Year - 11
