Anyone else buy reference materials for their fanfic?  I know most of the writers on my flist do heavy research for original fiction featuring original characters.  But, how much research do you put into fic?

Does it count if you use "research for my fic" as an excuse to buy stuff you think is cool?

My Dictionary of Brisitsh Slang says 'Yes'. Also, 'Blimey'. LOL

LOL

An almost embarassing amount of my book collection comes from fic "research." It sounds so convincing in my head when I think it up in the store. I'm just trying to do right by my readers and give them the very best! lol

I bought a book about monsters in the Buffy universe with the idea of using it in research, but as far as materials specifically designed for fanfic research, that's about it. So far.

More Fic than Fan

OK, so this probably marks me as only marginal to the whole "fan" side of "fic", but does owning multiple baby-naming books when you don't have, well, a girlfriend, let alone a pregnant one, count?
