Disappointment
Apr. 14th, 2008 01:37 pmMy office provides lunch, on the theory that none of us will leave the building and therefore we will work more. Mostly I'm cool with that; I'd be leery of lugging lunch from home for a nearly 2 hour commute, and buying food every day would get pricey.
Today, however, lunch was really bad. This upset me, because I expect the food in New York to be good. Not that I think every corner market has gourmet fare or anything, but I'd at least expect things to be fresh, based on the large number of farms close by in NJ, and the huge harbor in the city itself.
I had an assorment of fish and veggie items today (from a chinese place) and could barely eat any of it. I'm having chips now to fill myself up. I think the restaurant must have had a special on the fish today, because it was about to go bad. And every veggie was cooked wrong - either too much or too little. The spinach was sandy.
Yuck.
