Books, books, and more books
Feb. 10th, 2014 08:30 pmOne of these days, I need to think of something interesting to tell the world. Hopefully, one day soon.
Total for January 2014 - 6
New books I've read:
Planet of the Apes - Pierre Boulle
Fledgling - Octavia Butler
Conclusions:
I have no need to read "The Bridge Over the River Kwai", which was Boulle's other most famous novel. I don't know if it was the translation I was reading or what, but I felt like the book had more issues than just the weirdness you'd recognize from the movies. As for "Fledgling", I don't know why I don't read more Octavia Butler, I love everything of hers that I read. This book was a beautiful, elegant take on the vampire mythos, incorporating issues of racism and family dynamics. I'll have to pick up some more of her books, the next time I'm able to pick up new books. Which will probably be after I move. Fun times.
Moving anxiety has yet to set in, which is exciting. We'll see how that goes.
