Stuff That's Happened
May. 7th, 2008 09:04 amAnother short post, because I have very little of interest to say about fic, social stuff, or TV. Since those are usually the things I babble about (other than being unhappy at work, which I'm not at the moment) there isn't much to say.
My permenant start date is still tentative; I have a start date, but no offer letter yet. The pay and benefits are good, and I've been doing the job for a while now so I know I like it. I'm just waiting nervously at this point. Every time someone congratulates me I'm torn between a flush of excitement, and the fear of being jinxed.
My brother and his family left this morning to spend a week at their house on post in Kentucky before he goes back to Iraq next Monday. I didn't realize that he'd given up his desk job mid-tour, and was now patroling the streets of Baghdad, until he showed us his pictures while he was here. From the reaction, I don't think Mom knew, either. It makes me even more scared, but he said he's happier doing some actual defending of democracy instead of pushing papers.
